Hailed by Jools Holland as "A great vocalist", Samuel West's story through music has taken many different turns. Samuel trained as an Opera and Classical singer before being seduced by the soulful sounds of singers like Ray Charles, Van Morrison and Otis Redding and he dedicated his time to pursuing his passions in blues, soul and rock n roll.
It was only later in his career that he returned to the music that he heard growing up in the family home. The sounds of Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Ella Fitzgerald re-awoke a deep love for Jazz and improvisation and as they say...the rest is history!
Samuel has been lucky enough to play on some of the biggest stages in the UK and abroad including touring with Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra as well as supporting bands like Status Quo, 10cc, Deacon Blue and The Waterboys.
Samuel most recently lauched his new CD 'The Alternative American Songbook' to a sell out crowd at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues festival. With tours, radio and TV apperances coming soon on the BBC, 2018 looks like it will be a very exciting year for him.
Sam's other projects include The Fortunate Sons, The Big Figure, Becoming Shades (Chivaree Circus), Oran, Yllwshrk, A Night with Ella, Start to End
